10-06-2009 - Africa: the future of European energy lies here
The European continent has always been reliable from energy provided by countries outside Europe. An example of this is the gas and oil supply that is from Russia. Countries within the European Union are not able to sustain themselves. Creating nuclear power plants is difficult and costly to do. The environmental issue is also an important issue in this manner, because the earth is still heating up.
Alternative energy is already being created, but the development of this is slow and difficult to produce on large scale. An example of this is the building of wind park mills in the Netherlands.
What is the next solution of the European Union to solve their energy problem and not be reliable on countries like Russia? An idea that I recently read was the installation of solar power in the Sahara. These countries are in fact less stable but the EU can easily influence these countries. Architects claim they can build a supergrid of concentrating solar thermal plants (CSP) that can meet most of Europe's current electricity needs by using just 0.3 percent of the deserts of the Middle East and North Africa. If this is really possible is another question. Questions arise on the internet are that it is impossible to transfer this large quantity of energy throughout this large distance.
The countries in North Africa will in my opinion help the EU out, against compensation. The most important issue for these North African countries is that their relation with the EU will become closer. Cooperation in the future is imperative to sustain growth in these countries and become greater trading powers.

10-06-2009 - Experience of a life time.
Experience of a life time.
The summer of 2008 was a real special experience for me. I was chosen to participate in the Holland Heineken House(HHH) in Beijing during the Olympic games. Before the start of the Olympic games there was a difficult screening process. The HR manager of Randstad did the screening.
We were chosen out of 3500 possible applicants. A total of 160 crew members made the trip to China in the summer of August 2008. The first days in China were about building up the Holland Heineken House. The location of the HHH was in the agriculture exhibition center. This center was build in 1956 for the communist leader Mao Zedong.
On the 7th of August the HHH was opened. The opening ceremony was attended by Prince Willem Alexander, Mrs Carvalho (Heineken chairman) and the chair person of NOC NSF Erica Terpstra. Every night there were special guest appearances, celebration of athletes and great party’s. It was a very beautiful experience with a lot of ups and downs, but in the end I will remember this as a experience of a life time.

10-06-2009 - Ernesto Che Guevara
Che Guevara
I recently finished reading the biography of Ernesto ‘’Che’’ Guevara. It was a very interesting book that followed the life of Guevara from beginning to the end. In my opinion the book is chronological well written. You can sense what effects changes in his life had on his conscious and thinking.
Che Guevara was born on the 14th of June in 1928 in Rosario, Argentina. The first time he got an asthma attack was when he was two years old. These asthma attacks followed him through his whole life.
In 1947 he started a study in medicine in the Buenas Aires University. In January 1952, when he graduated from the university he made a trip with his best friend Alberto Granada. The trip took them through Argentina, Chili, Peru, Colombia, Venezuela and Miami. During this trip they had a lot of adventures, like working at a lepra centre. The misery of the people he endured during his trip has changed him forever and would influence him in his political career.
After finishing his trip he started his political career that began in Guatemala and would end in Bolivia. The biggest impact on history was in 1956. Here he began with Fidel Castro the expedition to free Cuba from the dictator Batista.
After several years where he worked as the president of the Cuban National Bank he felt that he had to be on the frontline, so he went to Africa to fight over there and do what he always have done. Fighting for human rights and against dictators. On the 8th of October he was trapped in Bolivia during a guerrilla battle where he was captured and executed.
About the death of Che there were several stories. His body was burned, thrown in a crocodile pool etc. The through story is that he was buried with his comrades in Vallegrande, Bolivia where he was found in July 1997.

10-06-2009 - Slumdog Millionaire
Slumdog Millionaire is a story about twobrothers and a girl from the slums of Mumbai (Bombay). The movie is shot beautifully with going back and forward in time with excellent cast members. The reason why I like this movie so much is because it is authentic. It is shot in India with cast members from that country. The Indian language was spoken throughout the film, that what makes it for me real and not another Hollywood flick.
The 3 musketeers as Jamal, Salim and Latika called themselves grew up in the badest neighborhood of Mumbai, India. This movie shows how these three musketeersgrow up and try to survive without a mother in India. The story starts with the killing of the mother of Jamal and Salim in Mumbai. Their mother was killed during riots against Muslims living in India. This happened at a young age of the two. When fleeing the riots they meet up with Latika. Latika and Jamal fall in love at a young age and know that it is their destiny to be together. Through the film you can see Jamal playing as a contestant on the game show ‘’ Who Wants To Be a Millionaire’’. Jamal is not a genius, but knows all the answers of the questions asked to him in the show. How does he know all these questions? Is he cheating or was it just written?
The movie shows the life of the three musketeers, how they got separated and get back together. In this endeavor Jamal experience things that helps him win the hoofdprijs and get back together with the love of his life.
At the end the question throughout the film was that it was written how his life goes.

10-06-2009 - IMF
This blog will be about the International Monetary Fund (IMF). The IMF is a financial aid body that was created in 1949. After the second world war and the collapse of the financial system the most powerful countries in the world decided that a governing body needs to be created to improve less developed countries to evolve and catch up with the west. The official tasks of the IMF is to give financial aid to less developed countries. In the eyes of the IMF this aid needs to be used in improving infrastructure in a country. The largest beneficiary of the IMF is the United States.
This structure of helping these less developed countries sound excellent for them, because these third world countries can’t pay for modifications in their own countries by themselves. In my opinion the IMF is the biggest crook organization with the world bank that exists in the world.
Let’s see what the IMF actually does: The IMF imposes loans on less developed countries because they think it is necessary that these countries improve their infrastructure in the country so that multinationals in the world will establish their business in that country. When granting the loans imposed by the IMF (especially the USA), these less developed countries have to pay back this loan with interest. The idea behind the IMF is that these countries cannot pay this loan back. These less developed countries already have problems with already paying the interest so what does the IMF grants these countries another loan to pay only the interest back. Now let’s see what is the status of these countries at that moment. They have a loan they will never be able to pay back, secondly the other loan is used to pay the interest back of the first loan and the debt of these countries is getting bigger and bigger. Now that it becomes clear the these less developed countries will never be able to pay back their loans and interest, the IMF has another structure to collect. When granting loans to these countries there has to be a guaranty that there always is a possibility of paying the IMF back.
Now natural resources comes into play. When these countries are not able to pay back their loans the following will happen. Countries with for instance oil will have to sell their resources for a cheaper price because they are in debt with the IMF and the beneficiary of the IMF.
Now the best part of everything comes. What happens with the money these less developed countries receive. This aid is then again used by multinationals to improve the infrastructure that is important for the company so they don’t have to pay for anything.
Conclusion of this all is that the biggest losers of this is the people of the countries. The multinationals establish themselves in these countries, creating work for these people but still at the lowest rate possible. The people are saddled with a huge debt which will keep the country poor and the resources are sold at a lower rate.
Who wins: the Western countries in the World
